The Husky Story

Built from experience.
Refined for the outdoors.

Husky Motors began with a vision to make getting out on the ice with family and gear simpler, without the size, weight and transportation demands of a traditional snowmobile.

Where it started

It started with a family's ice fishing trips.

In 2011, founder Roman Ovdiy was looking for an easier way to enjoy ice fishing with his family. Bringing along everything they needed meant packing fishing equipment, winter supplies, and utility sleds, as well as transporting two snowmobiles on a trailer. What should have been a simple family outing required considerable preparation.

Roman envisioned a simpler alternative: a compact, lightweight machine that could carry his family and their gear across the ice, fit in the back of a truck, and be easier to maintain than a traditional snowmobile. Unable to find a machine that offered all three, Roman set out to build his own.

From a family solution to a Canadian company

the prototype

The first Husky

Using components from a snowmobile, Roman built the first prototype of what would eventually become the Husky Track Sled: a compact, tracked machine designed to make transporting people and gear easier.

Over the following years, he continued developing the machine through hands-on engineering, testing and refinement in Canadian winter conditions.

The Husky Design

Designed to Simplify the Outdoor Experience

The Husky Track Sled was designed to make getting outdoors easier, not just travelling across snow and ice. From packing up to transporting and storing the machine, every part of the experience was considered. Husky Track Sled’s compact design allows it to fit inside a utility sled, so the entire setup can be transported in the back of a truck without a separate trailer. With less space required and fewer things to haul, preparing for a day outdoors and packing up afterward becomes much simpler.

customer feedback

More than ice fishing

As more machines reached customers, their experiences helped shape the product’s development. Feedback from people using Husky machines for ice fishing, outdoor recreation, and work in challenging terrain informed further refinements and improvements.

What began as a solution for one family’s winter outings had evolved into a compact all-terrain machine with applications well beyond the frozen lake.

The Husky philosophy

From the first prototype to today’s Husky Track Sled, the idea remains the same: a compact, capable machine that makes it easier to transport yourself and your gear across snow, ice, trails, and uneven terrain.

It is an alternative for those who need practical tracked mobility without the size and transportation demands of a snowmobile.
